Hailey Upton ( Tracy Spiridakos) finds security camera footage showing the guy, and a license plate traces back to someone named Roy Walton. Kim Burgess ( Marina Squerciati) is able to clean up the audio from Darrell’s phone and it’s clear that the mystery “he” from earlier is also involved. Voight calls an upset Miller and assures her that they’ll find her son as he sends his team off to start their search. Unfortunately, when our heroes get there, they find nothing but Darrell’s phone. Atwater and Ruzek continue to listen in, with Voight arriving just before they’re able to zero in on a location. On the line he can hear Darrell talking to Kent again, and rushes back to the office, where everyone’s already swinging into action. After chewing the kid out, he goes for his gun and tells them all to leave, denying that he moves any drugs whatsoever.ĭarrell insists that he has to “make things right” because otherwise he won’t have any family left Ruzek assures him that they just need to take a break, but gets a call from Darrell in the middle of the night. Back to the strip club, where Darrell really sucks at making introductions, so Kent is ticked off that he’s even told other people about them. Voight suggests that Ruzek and Atwater go undercover as potential buyers, using Darrell to get Kent on their side. So Voight briefs his team, including that their CI is the son of their boss.
Miller instructs him to treat her son as a confidential informant and run his usual protocols. Voight tells her the next morning, and says he’ll help Darrell off-book.
He now owes a strip club owner named Kent Darby a cool $10,000 and of course he can’t tell his mom, so he wants Voight to help without telling her. Darrell explains that he’s been dealing cocaine and because the people he sells to owe him money, he can’t pay his dealer. Voight takes Darrell back to his house, where Chicago PD shows us a rare photo of Voight with his late son Justin ( Josh Segarra). If I don’t pay them soon, they’re gonna kill me.”
